Michael Phelps Report: A Finals In Both 100 Free, 100 Fly

By popular demand, Swimming World will provide readers with all the Michael Phelps content they can get after each session of the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.
Phelps first qualified sixth overall in the men’s 100-meter free with a 49.94 before returning to qualify fifth in the 100-meter fly with a 52.99. Both A finals look to be stacked with some of the top names in the sport.
Original 100 free report:
France’s Jeremy Stravius set the top seed in the 100 free tonight with a 48.90 this morning. He was the only swimmer to clear 49 seconds during prelims.
His time is only half-a-second off his season best from last year of 48.34 from the Dubai stop of the World Cup.
California’s Nathan Adrian, who had a top time of 48.31 last year, qualified second today in a time of 49.26 with SwimMAC star Ryan Lochte checking in with a third-seeded 49.55.
NYAC’s Jimmy Feigen turned in a fourth-ranked 49.61 with Tucson Ford’s Matt Grevers qualifying fifth in 49.91.
The Greatest of All Time Michael Phelps cruised into sixth in the first event of 2016 with a 49.94.
Phelps had a busy day yesterday with a press conference to not only discuss his new life changes, but also to promote his new product line.
Missouri’s Michael Chadwick (49.96) and Canyons’ Santo Condorelli (49.97) both cleared 50 seconds to make the finale.

SwimMAC’s Ryan Lochte raced his way to the top seed in the men’s 100-meter fly in what should be a close battle in a star-studded finale tonight.
Lochte clocked in a 52.58, just ahead of butterfly specialist Giles Smith of Phoenix Swim Club. Smith posted a second-seeded time of 52.63.
California’s Tom Shields, who ranked fifth in the world last year with a 51.03, posted a third-seeded 52.65.
SwimMAC’s Tim Phillips claimed fourth in 52.91, while NBAC’s Michael Phelps qualified fifth overall in 52.99.
SwimMAC’s Matt Josa (53.18), Sweden’s Simon Sjodin (53.20) and Singapore’s Zheng Wen Quah (53.23) also made the finale.
