Colorado Stars’ Missy Franklin overhauled Dominique Bouchard in the women’s 200-meter back at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando.
Franklin came storming home in 31.96 to catch Bouchard with a 2:08.77 to sweep the backstroke events here in Orlando. She moved up to fifth in the world this year, bettering her sixth-ranked 2:09.21 from Austin.
Bouchard, meanwhile, wound up second in 2:08.90 to tie Minna Atherton for sixth in the world.
BlueFish’s Elizabeth Beisel raced her way into third in a 2:09.75 to move up to 13th in the world.
Scottsdale’s Taylor Ruck (2:12.50), Club Wolverine’s Yin Yan Lau (2:14.45), Argentina’s Andrea Berrino (2:14.45), Italy’s Silvia Scalia (2:14.69) and Mexico’s Fernanda Gonzalez Ramirez (2:19.12) finished fourth through eighth.
Gator’s Caitlin Brooks won the B final in a time of 2:15.39. Villanova’s Darby Goodwin took second in 2:16.20.
