Women’s 200 IM

Stanford’s Maya DiRado put herself in position for a third win in three days with a top time of 2:13.65.

That swim moved her to 16th in the world rankings with the likelihood of cracking the top 10 anchored by Kanako Watanabe’s 2:12.96.

BlueFish’s Elizabeth Beisel checked in with a 2:14.02 to move to 18th in the world rankings, while Saint Petersburg’s Melanie Margalis earned the third seed in 2:15.18. She’s already ranked seventh in the world with a 2:12.67 from Austin.

Trojan’s Yuliya Efimova, fresh off a blazing 200 breast last night, qualified fourth in 2:15.84 with NCAP’s Katie Ledecky turning in a fifth-seeded 2:15.90 as she continues her unorthodox event schedule here in Orlando.

Gator’s Hilda Luthersdottir (2:16.39), Vietnam’s Vien Nguyen (2:17.08) and Irish’s Emma Reaney (2:17.43) also made their way into finals.

Men’s 200 IM

The officials are definitely calling it tight here in Orlando.  After Cody Miller lost a 59.94 in the 100-meter breast earlier, Josh Prenot just lost a 2:02.00 top seed after being disqualified for going past vertical on the backstroke finish.

Prenot also lost his chance to improve his 10th-ranked season best of 1:59.94 from the Austin stop.

Gator’s Eduardo Solaeche moved into the top spot with a 2:02.24. He will be vying for a 2:01 to break into the top 20 anchored by Kenneth To’s 2:01.40 from the Victoria State Championships.

Brazil’s Henrique Rodrigues qualified second in 2:03.08 with Trojan’s Conor Dwyer putting up a third-seeded 2:03.32.

Brazil’s Thiago Pereira (2:04.37), Wisconsin’s Michael Weiss (2:04.52), NBAC’s Austin Surhoff (2:04.59), Gator’s Sebastian Rousseau (2:04.85) and California’s Marcin Tarczynski (2:05.09) also made the top eight.
