Rutgers Women Sweep La Salle on Senior Night

The Rutgers University women’s swimming and diving team defeated La Salle 225-71 on senior day on Friday, Jan. 23.

Rutgers honored eight seniors – one diver (Sephora Ford) and seven swimmers (Megan Fox, Grace Hagemaster, Cam Kuriger, Katherine Lang, Jillian Ruffner, Ellie Schinsky and graduate student Angelica Bath).

The Scarlet Knights started the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Hagenmaster, Sofia Bartoloni, Emiliana Gonzalez and Anna Vlachou won in 1:43.89.

Bartoloni won he 100 breaststroke in 1:03.45 and 200 breast (2:17.53). Gonzalez won the 50 free in 23.12 ahead of Vlachou (23.15). Bath won the 200 backstroke in 2:02.72. Vlachou won the 100 fly (54.39).

Fox won the 1000 free in 10:18.10 and 500 free (5:06.48). Chiara Alberti won the 200 free in 1:52.45 and 100 free (52.12). Goksu Dogan won the 100 backstroke in 56.72. Blanka Berecz won the 200 butterfly in 2:00.46. Ana Hazlehurst won the 200 IM (2:05.21) over La Salle’s Beren Celik (2:08.51).

Gonzalez, Alberti, Brooke Thompson and Vlachou won the 200 free relay in 1:34.65.

Rutgers’ Bailee Sturgill won 3-meter with 330.38 points, ahead of Ford (325.20). Sturgill (298.65) and Ford (284.10) also went 1-2 on platform.
