NC State Wolfpack Adds Another for 2022 from Sprinter Drew Salls

NEW COMMIT: North Carolina State University has added another verbal commitment to their already-stacked Class of 2026 from Junior National qualifier Drew Salls of Jacksonville, Fla.

He will join Stephen ConradJT EwingKyle PonslerMichael CotterLance Norris, and Ryan Weaver in Raleigh in the fall of 2022, suiting up for an NC State team that won their sixth-straight ACC Championship title in 2020.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

A talented sprinter, Salls does his club swimming with the Bolles School Sharks and finaled in the 100m free at Plantation Sectionals back in March after earning a best time at the Florida OT Qualifier. In Summer 2019, he finished 15th in the 50m fly at Gainesville Sectionals before going on to earn 100% best times at Greensboro Futures.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 19.94
  • 100 free – 44.79
  • 200 free – 1:42.10
  • 100 fly – 50.16

Currently a junior at Sandalwood High School, Salls is a five-time individual Florida State Championship finalist. He was the runner-up in the 50 free and sprinted to fourth in the 100 free as a junior at the 4A meet while taking third and ninth, respectively, in those events at the 3A meet during his sophomore season.

His time of 19.94 during finals of the 50 free in 2020 made him the fastest 16-year-old boy in the country.

Under head coach Braden Holloway, the Wolfpack has also signed an impressive class for the fall of 2021 that includes Nathan Kempiak, Alexander Noergaard, Aiden HayesDavid CurtissGarrett BooneArsenio Bustos and Sam Hoover.
