NEW COMMIT: NC State University has added another verbal commitment to their growing class of 2026 from Fishers, Ind. native Kyle Ponsler.

He will join Michael Cotter, Lance Norris, and Ryan Weaver in Raleigh in the fall of 2022.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am beyond proud and humbled to announce my verbal commitment to North Carolina State University! I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, friends, and family for the constant guidance and support that they’ve provided throughout my swimming journey. Here’s to the next 4 years. Go Pack!♦️? #PBG”

Ponsler swims year-round with Fishers Area Swimming Tigers and finished 24th in the mile at Juniors East in December while earning best times in the 500 free and 400 IM. Last summer, he raced to sixth place in the 1500m free at Indiana LCM Seniors before going on to compete at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:28.07
  • 1650 free – 15:41.41
  • 100 back – 50.21
  • 200 back – 1:50.31
  • 200 IM – 1:49.58
  • 400 IM – 3:56.01

A current junior at Fishers High School, Ponsler is a three-time Indiana State Championship finalist. He placed fourth in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 IM as a sophomore while taking fifth and 18th, respectively, in those events during his freshman season.

When he suits up for the Wolfpack at the start of the 2022-23 season, Ponsler will add his talents to a distance freestyle group that’ll be led by Ross Dant, Alexander Norgaard, and will also include future classmates Norris and Cotter. NC State won their sixth-straight ACC Championship title in 2020.
