NEW COMMIT: Verona, Wisc. native Ally Silvestri will stay in-state for her college career after verbally committing to the University of Wisconsin as a member of the Badgers’ class of 2025.

Her older sister, Jenna Silvestri, is a rising junior on Wisconsin’s roster and their father also swam for the Badgers.

She’ll join Natalie Bercutt, Sophie Fiske, Katie McClintock and Abby Carlson as well as Nation’s Capital teammates Mackenzie McConagha and Paige McKenna in Madison in the fall of 2021.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m beyond honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Wisconsin!! Thank you to my friends, family, teammates, and coaches who have helped me get here and especially the coaches at UW for giving me this opportunity! Can’t wait to be a badger!! On Wisconsin!!”

Primarily a breaststroker and IMer, Silvestri swims year-round with Madison Aquatic Club and owns four Junior National standards. She most recently won the 200 breast with five additional top-10 finishes at the Wisconsin 13&O State Championships after racing four events at Juniors West. Last summer, she earned gold in the 400m IM at Wisconsin LCM States.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:02.41
  • 200 breast – 2:15.89
  • 200 IM – 2:04.30
  • 400 IM – 4:22.07

A current junior at Middleton High School, Silvestri is a four-time Wisconsin DI State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American earned silver in the 100 breast and took fourth in the 200 IM during her sophomore season while placing third and seventh, respectively, in those events as a freshman.

The Badgers finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Big Ten Championships.
