Badgers Earn 2021 In-State Verbal from Seven-Time Wisconsin State Champion Sophie Fiske

NEW COMMIT: Sun Prairie, Wisc. native Sophie Fiske will stay in-state for her college career after verbally committing to the University of Wisconsin as a member of the Badgers’ class of 2025.

She’ll join Katie McClintock and Abby Carlson as well as Nation’s Capital teammates Mackenzie McConagha and Paige McKenna in Madison in the fall of 2021.

Primarily a sprint freestyler, Fiske does her club swimming with Madison Aquatic Club and owns the Summer Juniors standards in both the 50m and 100m free. She most recently placed 10th in the 100 free and 13th in the 50 free at Juniors West after finishing 23rd in the 50m free at Juniors Nationals this past summer. Last winter, she earned two best times at Juniors West before going on to take 13th in the 50 free at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.93
  • 100 free – 49.82
  • 200 free – 1:51.20
  • 100 breast – 1:04.74
  • 200 breast – 2:24.78
  • 200 IM – 2:05.61

A current junior at Sun Prairie High School, Fiske is an eight-time Wisconsin DI State Championship finalist. She won the 50/100 free combo in 2018 and 2019 while taking third and fourth, respectively, in those events during her freshman season. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American has also been a part of three winning relays.
