NBAC’s Michael Phelps talked about the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando being a much different meet than he’s experienced in the past.

On top of his head coach Bob Bowman currently being in Seattle with the Arizona State men’s team at the 2016 Pac 12 Championships, Phelps also is experiencing his first coast-to-coast meet going the other way: West to East.

Previously, Phelps has always traveled From the East in Baltimore to the West Coast if he had a trip all the way across the nation.

Original 100 fly report:

NBAC’s Michael Phelps raced his way to another Arena Series victory in the men’s 100-meter fly at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando.

Phelps turned in a time of 52.28 for the win.  That’s not far off his sizzling 51.94 from the Austin stop of the Arena Series that ranks him second in the world.

Phelps went out in a sizzling time of 24.62 and held off a hard-charging Tom Shields for the win.

California’s Shields took second in 52.35.  That’s better than his fourth-ranked 52.39 from Austin earlier this year, but wasn’t enough to track down Phelps.

Brazil’s Henrique Martins took third overall in 52.59, while Club Seminole’s Pavel Sankovich placed fourth in 52.71.

Phoenix’s Giles Smith (53.16), Wolfpack’s Eugene Godsoe (53.45), Argentina’s Santiago Grassi (53.46) and Wolfpack’s David Williams (54.26) also swam in the heat.

NBAC’s David Nolan, Phelps’ training partner in what has been dubbed NBAC Southwest at Arizona State University, won the B final in 53.03.  Marius Kusch took second in 53.58.
