Tide Swimming’s Charlie Burt Makes In-State Verbal to Virginia Tech Hokies

NEW COMMIT: Virginia Tech has earned a new in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from Virginia Beach, Va. native Charlie Burt.

Burt does her club swimming with Tide Swimming and owns the Winer Juniors cut in the 200 back. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American most recently competed at Juniors East last month where she achieved a pair of lifetime bests. She capped off her summer long course season with four top-25 finishes at Richmond Futures after earning the bronze in the 200m back at Virginia LCM Seniors. Also competing for Princess Anne High School, Burt took 11th in the 100 back and 14th in the 200 IM during her junior season after placing seventh in both events as a sophomore at the Virginia 5A State Championships.

She told Swimming World:

“Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Virginia Tech! I can’t wait to be a Hokie! #gokies”

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 57.46
  • 200 back – 2:01.17
  • 200 IM – 2:06.91
  • 400 IM – 4:25.34

Burt will join Karisa FranzJenna Thompson, Sophia RyanHannah JirsaBrooke TravisHannah Virgin, Morgan MillerAshley Worden, Shelby Raber, Rose Pouch and Sarah Shackelford as a member of the Virginia Tech class of 2023. The Hokies finished seventh in the team standings at the 2018 ACC Championships.
