NEW COMMIT: Virginia Tech is forming an incredibly strong recruiting class for the fall of 2019 and has just received another verbal commitment from Hannah Jirsa.

Travis will join Brooke TravisHannah Virgin, Morgan MillerAshley Worden, Shelby Raber and Rose Pouch as members of the Hokie class of 2023.

Already a native of Blacksburg, Jirsa does her club swimming with H2okie Aquatics and concluded a successful long course season with a best time in every event she swam at the Virginia Senior LCM Championships. At the Senior SCY Championships in March, she finaled in the 500 free and earned a lifetime best.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited and grateful to get the opportunity to swim under an amazing coaching staff and with such a talented team the next four years. Can’t wait to be a Hokie!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.56
  • 100 free – 53.09
  • 200 free – 1:54.24
  • 500 free – 5:04.88
  • 100 fly – 57.42

A senior at Blacksburg High School, Jirsa has continuously improved each season. Her greatest strides have come in the longer distances where she has dropped three seconds in the 500 and eight in the 1000 over the past year. She’ll join a talented freestyle group next season when she suits up for the Hokies, who finished third in the team standings at the 2018 ACC Championships.
