Razorbacks Pick Up In-State Verbal From Backstroker Allie Rogers
NEW COMMIT: Conway, Ark. native Allie Rogers has elected to stay in-state next fall by giving her verbal commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Rogers does her club swimming with The AquaKids under head coach Tony Marleneanu and is a Winter Juniors qualifier in both backstroke events. She finished fourth in the 200m back and sixth in the 100m back at Jenks Speedo Sectionals this summer. A current senior at Conway High School, recorded a pair of best times at Arkansas Seniors last winter and was a five-time Columbia Speedo Sectionals finalist in March.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Arkansas. My dad has always dreamed for me to swim at Arkansas since I was a child. When I came to visit the campus, I immediately fell in love with the team and everything about it. I couldn’t imagine spending the next four years anywhere else. Thanks to my coach who in the short time I’ve worked with him helped me to get where I am today and helped me push myself at times when I thought I couldn’t. Woo Pig Sooie!”
Her best times include:
- 200 back – 2:02.52
- 100 back – 57.39
- 200 IM – 2:03.92
- 100 breast – 1:04.38
- 100 fly – 56.84
When she suits up for the Razorbacks at the start of the 2019-20 season, she’ll add valuable depth to their backstroke group led by Katiana Porporis. She will join the class of 2023 that also includes Natalie Jones, Janelle Hummingbird and Jessie Beckwith.
