Maya DiRado Vaults to 4th in World in 400 IM

Stanford’s Maya DiRado cranked out a winning time in the women’s 400-meter IM at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando.

DiRado turned in a time of 4:36.82 for the win.  That vaulted her to fourth in the world this year behind only Katinka Hosszu (4:32.25), Aimee Willmott (4:34.82) and Sakiko Shimizu (4:35.04).

Vien Nguyen of Vietnam placed second overall in 4:39.64. She owns the Vietnamese record with a 4:38.78 from last year’s Worlds.

NBAC’s Becca Mann placed third in 4:40.44 with NCAP’s Katie Ledecky winding up fourth in 4:40.95.

NBAC’s Sierra Schmidt (4:49.55), Argentina’s Virginia Bardach (4:51.17) and Scottsdale’s Natalia Jaspeado (4:52.95) also put up legal times in finals.  Nitro’s Regan Barney drew a disqualification.

York’s Meghan Small turned in a top time of 4:50.27 to win the B final.  Argentina’s Florencia Perotti took second in 4:51.23.
