Hoosiers Add Verbal From Canadian Butterflyer Katie Forrester to Class of 2026

NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Canadian butterfly specialist Katie Forrester of Oakville, Ontario.

She will join the Hoosiers along with Katharina Wred, MacKenna Lieske, Lily HannCat WatrousChiok Sze YeoKristina Paegle, Avery Spade, Gracie Olsen and Mya DeWitt at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I chose Indiana University because of their amazing academic and athletic reputation. I am so grateful for the opportunity to advance my athletic and academic career. I want to thank my family, friends, my coach Sean Baker and the other coaches who have helped me along the way. Go Hoosiers!”

Forrester most recently competed at the Mizuno Atlantic Classic in May where she was a finalist in the 100m/200m fly and 200m IM, picking up best times in both fly events.

At the 2020 Winter Ontario Swimming Championships, she was the runner-up in the 200m fly and 400m IM and earned bronze in the 200m back. She also recorded four lifetime bests at that meet.

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 1:01.43
  • 200 fly – 2:17.36
  • 200 IM – 2:23.45
  • 100 back – 1:06.72
  • 200 back – 2:22.05

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 100 fly – 54.08
  • 200 fly – 2:01.23
  • 200 IM – 2:06.35
  • 100 back – 59.02
  • 200 back – 2:05.81

Forrester, who attends Oakville Trafalgar High School, swims year-round with Markham Aquatic Club.

Under head coach Ray Looze, the Hoosiers finished third overall in the team standings at the 2021 Big Ten Championships.
