NEW COMMIT: U.S. Open qualifier Mya DeWitt of Fort Wayne, Ind. has opted to stay in-state for her college career after verbally committing to Indiana University beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will suit up for the Hoosiers as a member of their class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to Indiana University to continue my swim and academic career. Indiana is a perfect fit for me; the coaching staff is absolutely incredible and I feel an amazing connection with all of them. The second I stepped on campus I knew it was the place for me; I didn’t want to leave! Thank you so much to everyone that helped me get to this point! Go Hoosiers!!! ⚪️?”

A talented backstroker and sprint freestyler, DeWitt placed 13th in the 100 back and 24th in the 200 back at Juniors East in December. Last summer, she recorded four lifetime bests at Indiana LCM Seniors before going on to take fourth in the 100m back, 11th in the 200m back, and 13th in the 50m back at NCSAs.

She swims year-round with Fort Wayne Swim Team.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 25.39
  • 100 back – 53.79
  • 200 back – 1:59.12
  • 50 free – 23.38
  • 100 free – 50.98

A rising junior at Fort Wayne Carroll High School, DeWitt is already a three-time Indiana State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American was the runner-up in the 100 back as a sophomore while taking ninth in that event during her freshman season.
