The 100 fly will lead off the meet’s first finals session, with Kelsi Worrell and Tom Shields as the top-seeded swimmers in the women’s and men’s event, respectively. Emily Escobedo led the way in the women’s 200 breast, and Nic Fink holds down lane four for what should be a competitive event on the men’s side.
Olympic gold medalist Simone Manuel will try to hold off Abbey Weitzeil and Lia Neal in the women’s 100 free final, while Caeleb Dressel, Marcelo Cherighini and Conor Dwyer all broke 50 seconds in the men’s event, but 2012 Olympic gold medalist Nathan Adrian lurks from lane two.
There was a three-way tie for eighth in the men’s 100 free, but only two of those swimmers could swim in the nine-man A-final. But instead of a swim-off, Indiana’s Ali Khalafalla agreed to swim in the B-final, leaving A-final spaces for Maxime Rooney and Vladimir Morozov.
Rounding out the night will be the 400 free, which features Katie Drabot and Clark Smith as the top seeds.
