A misfire in the men’s 400 free relay prelims by the United States at the FINA world championships affected more than the four men who participated in the race, according to men’s head coach Dave Durden.
“We were pissed about that,” Durden said. “All 22 guys (on the U.S team) were pissed about that. That was on day one and we’re past that. It was one event, and it was an important event for us, no doubt. Now, we’re taking that and going forward.”

Durden, in his first assignment as head coach of a USA Swimming international racing team, said he knew the first two days of the meet would not be tough, going so far to mention that a truckload of medals were not expected. He singled out some performances that stood out among the American men so far, including Connor Jaeger in the 400 free final and David Plummer in the 100 back semifinal.
He said the next few days will show the American strength, and he said the positive performances helped to “lift us up as a group.”
“We’re advancing through the stages, moving through what we need to do,” he said. “I think our guys know that the latter half of this meet … is where we start to roll.”

sure wish you would edit or Dave would edit his language. Not a particularly good role model from that standpoint.
Don’t want to second guess who swam in pre-lims. We all make mistakes.
He’s a college coach not a kindergarten teacher windrath…
