Brazil’s Nicolas Oliveira qualified second overall with a time of 1:49.05, while Trojan’s Conor Dwyer checked in with a third-seeded time of 1:49.27.  Dwyer is looking to add some Pro Series points as he currently trailed Nathan Adrian and Michael Phelps in the series.

Women’s 100 fly

Aliena Schmidtke of Ohio State had a big swim with a 1:00.29 to lead the way this morning. She’s been much better in season with a career best 58.99 from January during a long course dual meet, but there wasn’t a lot of high end speed in the event this morning.

Wisconsin’s Ivy Martin qualified second in 1:00.50 with NBAC’s Allison Schmitt tying SwimFlorida’s Fanny Teijonsalo with 1:00.96s.

Missouri’s Danielle Barbiea (1:01.24), Pine Crest’s Jessica Nava (1:01.76), NBAC’s Easop Lee (1:01.92) and Stanford’s Felicia Lee (1:01.97) closed out the rest of the top eight.

Women’s 400 IM

Stanford’s Maya DiRado raced her way to the top seed with a time of 4:40.64.  That moved her to ninth in the world rankings, ahead of Ranohon Amanova’s 4:40.71 from the Speedo Flanders Cup.

NCAP’s Katie Ledecky, demonstrating some versatility above and beyond her distance freestyle dominance, qualified second in the medley with a 4:41.28.  It’s obvious that Ledecky not only is developing her 100 free to become more of an impact on relays, she’s also adding the 400 IM as another potential weapon when she heads to college at Stanford next year.

Vien Nguyen (4:42.76), NBAC’s Becca Mann (4:42.83), Saint Petersburg’s Melanie Margalis (4:48.10), Argentina’s Virginia Bardach (4:49.66), NBAC’s Sierra Schmidt (4:50.43) and Nitro’s Regan Barney (4:53.09) closed out the top eight.

Something seems amiss with those women’s 100 Fly results – the prelim heat with Ivy Martin (1:00.5), Easop Lee (1:01.92), and Felicia Lee (1:01.97) looks like it didn’t compile in the results – I had those three swimmers making the A final.
