Sixteen-year-old Regan Smith continued her strong meet by coming out on top of a stacked women’s 100 back final on the third day of the TYR Pro Swim Series Santa Clara. Smith got her hand to the wall in 59.75, only .01 ahead of runner-up and current world record holder Kylie Masse.

Smith, swimming for Riptide Swim Team out of Minnesota, has shown her versatility this weekend after finishing third in the 200 fly (2:10.57) and fourth in the 100 fly (59.07). She also won the 200 back with a time of 2:09.60.

Smith, who currently ranks fifth in the world in this event for the season after posting a 59.38 back in January, talks about where she is this year compared to last year and how she’s making memories throughout it all. She also discusses her plan for the rest of the summer and her unique take on goal setting.
