The 2016 US Olympic Trials are officially underway with press conferences occurring the past two days before racing begins on Sunday, June 26th. Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers talked to the media before the start of his fifth Olympic Trials. Grevers touches on each Olympic Trials regarding how he has grown as an athlete and how the meet has developed.
Grevers recently joined the realm of Olympians with families after announcing with wife Annie Grevers the upcoming birth of their daughter, due around Thanksgiving. With the Zika virus raging in South America Grevers touched on the conversation he and Annie had after discovering they were pregnant, noting that,
As soon as we found out that Annie was pregnant we knew instantly that she was not going to go to Rio if I did make the team. It’s just a risk not worth taking…
