SEC Weekly Awards: Josh Liendo, Lainy Kruger Lead Honorees

The SEC announced its swimmers and divers of the week. Here is a look at the honorees:

SEC: Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Josh Liendo, Florida

Florida’s Josh Liendo, a senior from Scarborough, Canada, earned first-place finishes in all four of his events in the win at No. 15 Auburn. Liendo won the 50 free and 100 fly events with NCAA qualifying times of 19.28 and 44.31, respectively. He also was a member of the Gators’ winning relay teams, as he swam a 19.49 fly split on the 200 medley relay (1:22.90) and anchored the winning 400 free relay with a 41.34 split as the squad combined for top time of 2:49.77.

SEC: Men’s Diver of the Week: Jesus Agundez Mora, Florida

Florida’s Jesus Agundez Mora, a freshman from La Paz, Mexico, led the Gators’ men’s diving squad with 11 individual points in the win at No. 15 Auburn. Agundez Mora earned a first-place finish on the three-meter springboard with a top score of 410.33. He also earned fourth-place on the one-meter (330.08), which included a 72.08 on his opening Inward 2½ Somersault Tuck dive.

SEC: Men’s Co-Freshmen of the Week: Ahmed Jaouadi, Florida and Falemana Tuufui, Kentucky

Florida’s Ahmed Jaouadi, a freshman from Tunis, Tunisia, captured first-place finishes in both distance freestyle events in the win at No. 15 Auburn. Jaouadi won the 500 free with an NCAA qualifying time of 4:15.20 and claimed victory in the 1,000 free with a top time of 8:39.33.

Kentucky’s Falemana Tuufui, a freshman from Briey, France, captured first place in two individual events and two relays in the win over No. 24 Texas A&M. For the third time this season, Tuufui broke the program record in the 50 free, posting a 19.19 against the Aggies, making him the fastest Wildcat in school history. He also touched the wall first in the 100 free (42.86), led off the winning 400 free relay (2:52.26/42.78) and anchored the first-place 200 medley relay (1:24.10/18.90).

SEC: Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Lainy Kruger, Florida

Florida’s Lainy Kruger, a junior from Taylor Mill, Ky., posted four podium finishes in the win at No. 13 Auburn. Kruger won the 100 free with a time of 49.08 and the 200 free with an NCAA qualifying time of 1:45.45. She was also runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 22.86. Kruger led off the winning 400 free relay with a 49.38 split, helping the team post a top time of 3:16.62.

SEC: Women’s Co-Divers of the Week: Camyla Monroy, Florida and Avery Giese, Kentucky

Florida’s Camyla Monroy, a junior from La Paz, Mexico, paced the Gators’ women’s diving squad with a team-high 11 points in the win at No. 13 Auburn. Monroy finished first in the one-meter springboard with a final score of 294.60. She placed on the 3-meter with a final score of 286.20.

Kentucky’s Avery Giese, a sophomore from San Clemente, Calif., claimed two first-place finishes in the dual meet against Texas A&M. Giese secured the top spot on the 3-meter springboard with a final score of 282.38 and on platform with a final score of 264.98.

SEC: Women’s Freshman of the Week: Grace Rabb, Florida

Florida’s Grace Rabb, a freshman from Dripping Springs, Texas, posted a first-place finish in the 200 IM in the win at No. 13 Auburn, recording an NCAA qualifying time of 1:57.71. Rabb also placed fourth in the 100 back (52.80) and 200 back (1:56.71) and swam the fly leg of the fourth-place 200 medley relay (1:39.70/23.45).
