Rio’s Mayor Criticizes Rio Organizing Committee for Olympic Village Fiasco

While problems in the Olympic village persisted this morning, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, has criticized the Rio2016 organizing committee.
According to Paes, the village was ready before the committee took charge. He claims that under their watch, the buildings were not maintained or protected.
“The doors were left half-open. The organizing committee was careless, objectively speaking,” he reported.
While Paes blames the organizing committee, Brazilian media has called disgruntled workers the problem.
The organizing committee says that all village problems have been fixed.
Paes already got himself into trouble earlier in the week. After the Australians refused to move into the village, the mayor commented that he would leave a kangaroo outside to make the Australians feel at home. Along with an apology, Paes presented Kitty Chiller, the delegation chief, with a key to the city.
