Just days before competition is slated to begin in Rio de Janeiro, the host city continues to experience issues with some of the facilities. On Tuesday, August 2nd Australia News.com reported that the pool had to be evacuated after a suspicious object was found on the pool deck.
It was determined later that the box was either an electrician’s toolbox or an misplaced backpack.
Several journalists who are already in Rio took to Twitter to keep everyone posted as to the events unfolding.
7 News Sydney reported that the evacuation occurred about 90 minutes before the Australian team was supposed to arrive. The events only seem to add to a slew of problems that the Aussies have encountered, which included faulty living spaces.
