NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Beck Parnham of Kingwood, Texas has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Arizona and will arrive in Tucson in the fall of 2021.

He will join Jack Donovan,  Tate BahtiAlex McMahon and Connor West as a member of the Wildcats’ class of 2025.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the university of Arizona! I chose Arizona because of the amazing coaching staff, the great academics and the outstanding team culture! I would like to thank all my family friends, and coaches who have helped to get me to this point in my life and I can’t wait to begin a new adventure in Tucson, Arizona! BEAR DOWN!”

A talented distance swimmer, Parnham does his club swimming with Blue Tide Aquatics and most recently earned 100% best times at College Station Sectionals where his highest finish was a fourth-place showing in the 1500m free. He also placed 13th in the mile at Juniors East.

Last summer, he collected gold medals in the 400m/800m/1500m free at Southern Zone Seniors while also placing seventh in the 200m free and ninth in the 200m fly.

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:28.26
  • 1000 free – 9:37.88
  • 1650 free – 15:26.39
  • 200 fly – 1:51.12
  • 400 IM – 3:57.56

A rising senior at Kingwood High School, Parnham is a three-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished seventh in the 500 free and 12th in the 200 IM as a junior while taking 15th in the former event during his sophomore season.

Parnham has seen very impressive time drops over the past two seasons, shaving off six seconds in the 500 free, 11 seconds in the 400 IM, 18 seconds in the 1000 free, and 43 seconds in the mile. He will add much-needed distance freestyle depth to the Wildcats’ lineup following the graduation of Brooks Fail.
