NEW COMMIT: Sprinter Raea Farquharson of Chester, Va. will stay in-state next fall after handing her verbal commitment to Liberty University.

Farquharson swims year-round with Quest Swimming and recently capped off a stellar summer season with four top-15 finishes at the TYR Summer Senior Championships after recording a best time at Virginia LCM Seniors. Last winter, she notched a trio of lifetime bests at Virginia Seniors before going on to place 14th in the 100m free at TYR Junior Nationals.

Also competing for Clover Hill High School, Farquharson competed at the Virginia 6A State Championships during both her sophomore and junior seasons. She placed fourth in both the 50 free and 100 fly as a junior at the VHSL Region 2 Championships.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Liberty University!! I want to thank my friends, family, and coaches for all the continuous support throughout the years!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.84
  • 100 free – 52.89
  • 200 free – 1:58.44
  • 100 fly – 58.62

Farquharson will add valuable sprint depth to the Flames’ lineup and, with a year of club swimming still to go before suiting up for Liberty, she’ll look to translate her recent long course success into the upcoming short course season. She will also join Amelia Warren and Jamyson Robb on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season.
