Jenna Marquette verbally commits to Purdue.

NEW COMMITS: Purdue University has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Jenna Marquette of Plymouth, Minn.

She will join Cecilie Wiuff, Audrey Crowel and Mahala Erlandson in West Lafayette as a member of the Boilermakers’ class of 2025.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Purdue! I chose Purdue because of the amazing team atmosphere and the multitude of academic opportunities available. I’d like to thank my parents, coaches and teammates for all their help and support throughout the years. I can’t wait to be a part of this incredible team. Boiler Up!”

A talented breaststroker, Marquette is a Junior National qualifier who swims year-round with Minnetonka Swim Club under head coach Erich Welton. She most recently won the 100 breast at Minnesota Seniors in March and won the 100/200 breast combo at the Winter Classic in January.

Last summer, she swept the breaststroke events at Minnesota LCM Seniors before going on to finish third in the 50m breast, fourth in the 100m breast, and sixth in the 200m breast at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:02.05
  • 200 breast – 2:17.20
  • 100 free – 51.20
  • 200 IM – 2:06.47

A rising senior at Wayzata High School for coach Elizabeth Hansen, Marquette is a five-time Minnesota Class 2A State Championship finalist. She finished second in the 100 breast and fifth in the 100 free as a junior while taking fifth and 12th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in her career thus far.
