NEW COMMIT: Purdue University has recently landed a new in-state verbal commitment for their class of 2025 from Fort Wayne, Ind. butterflyer and freestyler Audrey Crowel.

She’ll join breaststroker Mahala Erlandson in West Lafayette at the start of the 2021-22 season.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.88
  • 200 fly – 2:03.46
  • 200 IM – 2:08.21
  • 400 IM – 4:33.40
  • 100 free – 52.10
  • 200 free – 1:50.01
  • 500 free – 4:58.13

Crowel owns the Winter Juniors standard in the 100 fly and does her club swimming with Summit City Aquatics. She was a finalist at Greensboro Futures this past summer after a strong showing at Indiana LCM Seniors. Last winter, she earned three gold medals at the Cardinal Christmas Classic before going on to race six events at Indiana SCY Seniors.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Purdue University! I ended up choosing this team because I was incredibly impressed by the team culture and future goals of the Boilermakers. In addition, the coaching staff and student/athlete resources were beyond my expectations and I can’t wait to be a future athlete and student at Purdue University. Boiler Up!”

A current junior at Homestead High School, Crowel is already a four-time Indiana State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed sixth in the 200 free and 12th in the 100 fly during her sophomore season after taking ninth and 14th, respectively, in those events as a freshman.
