PHOENIX, Arizona, August 7. WE'RE going to do something a little bit different this time around for our Performance of the Week. Usually, we give it to one person or a team for an outstanding performance, and after what we saw at the Olympics, it might have been easy to do so.
But so many great athletes stood out in London, and that's why this Performance of the Week is going to not just one Olympic athlete, but all 900 competitors who took to the pool over eight days.
This honor is not just for the swimmers who racked up multiple medals over many events, or for those who set world records. Many swimmers didn't perform up to expectations in London, but they also deserve praise for getting the chance to swim in the biggest event in our sport. We also want to honor the new faces that had us excited for the future and those that brought the sport to a level never before seen in history.
So congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in the London Olympics. You all deserve to be honored with our Performance of the Week.
