Olympic Torch Staying In Britain During 2012 Relay
LONDON, England, August 31. ACCORDING to various media outlets, including the AFP, Olympics organizers of the 2012 Games have decided that the torch relay will not leave the country.
An article by the AFP states that the decision has been made "after protests marred the worldwide relay ahead of the Beijing Games."
Olympic organizers have also begun to try to distance themselves from what many have thought was one of the best and biggest Olympics put on in recent times in Beijing.
[Tessa] Jowell [British minister] said the 2012 planners had noticed that some venues in Beijing had sparse crowds.
"My ambition is to see seats filled, every Londoner having the opportunity to see some event, and people being able to come from around the country. It's not simple, but we are determined to crack this."
