Mizzou Picks Up First Class of 2026 Verbal From Distance Ace Thomas Joswiak

NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Thomas Joswiak of Phoenix, Az. has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Missouri beginning in the fall of 2022.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Missouri to further my academic and swimming career. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for all their support. Go Tigers!”

A talented distance freestyler, Joswiak trains year-round with Phoenix Swim Club and most recently earned nine best times at the YWSF LCM Summer Opener earlier this month. At Four Corners Sectionals in March, he secured silver in the mile en route to breaking his team record. He also finished fourth in the mile at Arizona Seniors in February.

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:33.21
  • 1000 free – 9:18.18
  • 1650 free – 15:20.25

A rising senior at Brophy College Prep, Joswiak is a four-time individual Arizona State Championship finalist. He finished fourth in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 free as a sophomore while taking second and 15th, respectively, in those events as a freshman.

Under head coach Andrew Grevers, the Tigers finished sixth at the 2021 SEC Championships. Mizzou is also bringing in Will Whittington, Calvin WindleGrant BochenskiEthan RoachTy Spillane and Cade Oliver this upcoming season.
