Missouri Collects Verbal from NCSA Finalist Ty Spillane of Academy Bullets for 2021-22

NEW COMMIT: Sugar Grove, Ill. breaststroker Tyler “Ty” Spillane has declared his verbal intention to continue his academic and swimming career at the University of Missouri beginning in the fall of 2021.

He will join Cade Oliver as a member of the Tigers’ class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“Extremely blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Missouri! I’d like to thank my coaches, teammates, teachers, friends and parents for the endless support. I am super excited to be a part of such a great family! Go tigers?!!! #zoustyle”

Spillane, who owns a pair of Junior National standards, swims year-round with Academy Bullets Swim Club and most recently won the 200 breast at Illinois Seniors. Last summer, he finaled in two events at Illinois LCM Seniors before going on to finish eighth in the 50m breast at NCSAs.

His best times include:

  • 50 breast – 25.89
  • 100 breast – 54.99
  • 200 breast – 2:02.63
  • 200 IM – 1:54.07

Also competing for Marmion Academy, Spillane has competed at the Illinois State Championships each of his three high school seasons thus far. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American earned bronze in the 100 breast during his junior season after placing seventh in that event as a sophomore.
