Missouri State Adds Verbal from YMCA National Finalist Nick Andres
NEW COMMIT: Missouri State University has secured another verbal commitment for their growing class of 2024, this time from Glen Elyn, Ill. native Nick Andres who will join Micah Chambers, Dylan Moffatt, AJ Huskey, Robbie Hill and James Doromal in Springfield next fall.
A U.S. Open qualifier, Andres is a talented distance freestyler and does his club swimming with B.R.Ryall YMCA Swim Team. He most recently earned bronze in the 1500m free at YMCA LCM Nationals this past summer where he also took fourth ion the 800m free, fifth in the 400m free, and sixth in the 200m free. Last winter, he recorded a pair of best times at Juniors West before going on to finish fourth in the 200 fly at YMCA SCY Nationals. A current senior at Glenbard West High School, Andres has made nine finals appearances between Illinois SCY and LCM Seniors in 2019.
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:42.36
- 500 free – 4:28.79
- 1000 free – 9:17.17
- 1650 free – 15:43.32
- 200 fly – 1:49.40
Andres will make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Bears at the start of the 2020-21 season. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 fly and 500 free as well as placed in the top-5 in the mile at the 2019 MAC Championships where Missouri State finished second overall in the team standings.
