NEW COMMIT: Missouri State University has earned a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from in-state standout AJ Huskey of Columbia, Mo.

He will also join Robbie Hill and James Doromal next fall.

Huskey, who owns four Summer Juniors standards, swims year-round with Columbia Swim Club and most recently earned 100% best times at NCSAs this past summer where his highest finish was a third-place showing in the 200m IM. Last winter, he placed 20th in the 400 IM at Juniors West and won that event at Columbia Speedo Sectionals.

Also competing for Battle High School, Huskey is a four-time Missouri Class 1 State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 200 IM and 100 fly as a junior after finishing second in the 200 IM and fifth in the 500 free during his sophomore season.

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 52.54
  • 200 back – 1:48.54
  • 100 fly – 50.29
  • 200 fly – 1:48.63
  • 200 IM – 1:49.15
  • 400 IM – 3:52.10

Huskey will make an immediate impact when he arrives in Springfield as a member of the class of 2024. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 back and 200 fly at the 2019 MAC Championships where Missouri State finished second overall in the team standings.
