NEW COMMIT: Missouri State University has earned a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from four-time U.S. Open qualifier Dylan Moffatt of Independence, Iowa.

He will also join AJ Huskey, Robbie Hill and James Doromal in Springfield next fall.

A talented freestyler who gets faster as the distance gets longer, Moffatt does his club swimming with Linn-Mar Swim Team and most recently placed sixth in the 400m free, eighth in the 800m free, 15th in the 200m free, and 18th in the 1500m free at Junior Nationals this past summer. Last winter, he raced to 13th in the mile at Winter Nationals and recorded four best times at Rochester Sectionals.

Also competing for Cedar Falls High School, Moffatt is a four-time Iowa State Championships finalist. The NISCA All-American was the runner-up in both the 500 free and 200 IM as a junior after winning the 500 free and taking fourth in the 200 free during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

”I choose Missouri State because when I was on campus, I really felt like part of the family. I’m excited to call Missouri State my home for the next 4 years. Go Bears!!”

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.97
  • 500 free – 4:27.77
  • 1000 free – 9:17.21
  • 1650 free – 15:27.61

Moffatt will be a huge addition to the Bears’ roster next year as his best times already rank at the top of their lineup. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 500 free, B-final of the 200 free, and placed top-5 in the mile at the 2019 MAC Championships where Missouri State finished second overall in the team standings.
