NEW COMMIT: Kansas City, Mo. native Robbie Hill has given his in-state verbal commitment to Missouri State and will join the Bears as a member of the class of 2024. He will also join James Doromal next fall.

Hill, who owns the U.S. Open standard in the 100m back, swims year-round with Club North Swimming under head coach Todd Harvey. He placed ninth in the 100m back at Des Moines Futures this past summer after finishing seventh in both the 200m back and 400m IM at Jenks Speedo Sectionals. Last winter, he recorded five best times at Columbia Speedo Sectionals where his highest finish was an eighth-place showing in the 400 IM.

Also competing for Oak Park High School, Hill is a four-time Missouri State Championship finalist. He placed second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 fly as a junior after finishing third in both events during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to Missouri State University, where I will continue my academic and athletic career.  After getting to know the coaching and the team it was the obvious choice.”

His best times include:

  • 50 back – 23.70
  • 100 back – 51.41
  • 200 back – 1:52.09
  • 100 fly – 51.06
  • 200 IM – 1:54.01
  • 400 IM – 4:03.68

Hill’s versatility will be beneficial for the Bears when he arrives on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season and he could find himself in a number of different events. He would’ve scored in the B-final of both backstroke events and both IMs as well as the 100 fly at the 2019 MAC Championships where Missouri State finished second overall in the team standings.
