NEW COMMIT: Madison Kolessar of Chester Heights, Pennsylvania, has verbally committed to the University of Florida and will arrive in Gainesville for the 2020-21 season.

Kolessar swims year-round with Suburban Seahawks Club and owns seven Winter Juniors standards with a trio of U.S. Open standards. The NISCA All-American most recently competed at Juniors East in December where she placed 17th in the 400 IM and 19th in the 500 free. She concluded her long course season with six personal bests and five top-10 finishes at NCSAs this past summer after winning the mile and 400m IM at the Mid-Atlantic LCM Senior Championships. Also competing for Garnet Valley High School, Kolessar was the runner-up in the 200 free and took fourth in the 500 free at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to study and swim at University of Florida. I immediately fell in love with the campus and facilities the second I arrived. The coaching staff and team welcomed me with open arms and i felt at home. In addition, the level of support both academically and athletically was incredible. I cannot wait to be a Gator in a few years. Go Gators!”

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:49.62
  • 500 free – 4:48.49
  • 1650 free – 16:23.45
  • 400 IM – 4:12.83
  • 200 back – 1:57.37
  • 200 fly – 1:59.49

Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before arriving in Gainesville, Kolessar would’ve scored in the C-final of the 400 IM and placed top-12 in the mile at the 2018 SEC Championships. She will also join Amanda RayKenady Beil and Elise Bauer as members of the Gators’ class of 2024.
