Macguire McDuff and Aryan Nehra Will Join Florida Gators’ Class of 2025

NEW COMMITS: Parkersburg, W.Va. native Macguire McDuff and Aryan Nehra of Ahmedabad, India have announced their verbal commitments to the University of Florida beginning in the fall of 2021.

Both swimmers will join David Fitch, Joaquin Gonzalez PineroMason Laur and Oskar Lindholm in Gainesville as a member of the Gators’ class of 2025. Florida is coming off their eighth-straight and 41st overall SEC Championship title.

Primarily a sprint freestyler, Macguire does his club swimming with Parkersburg YMCA and most recently won four events at the SEOWV Winter Championships after earning 100% lifetime bests at the TPIT Christmas Invitational in December. Last summer, he earned five best times at the West Virginia LCM Championships.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at the University of Florida. Thank you to everyone who has helped get me to where I am today! Go Gators!”

A current junior at Parkersburg South High School, McDuff won the 100 free and 200 free at the West Virginia State Championships during his sophomore season. He also swam breast on the third-place 4×50 medley relay and anchored the silver-medal-winning 4×100 free relay.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.81
  • 100 free – 45.54
  • 200 free – 1:45.09
  • 100 back – 50.80

ARYAN NEHRA

A talented freestyler, Nehra swims year-round with the Bisp Flying Fish and earned two best times at the Tokyo Open in November after a strong showing at the Thai SCM Open.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“The University Of Florida provides an outstanding swim program as well as great academics. They have some of the best swimmers in the country and I am really looking forward to getting to train with some of them! I am super excited to be a part of this and I can’t wait to get started!! Go Gators!”

Also representing India internationally, Nehra raced three events at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships in Budapest. He competed in the 1500m free at the 18th FINA World Championships last summer as well.

His best times include:

  • 400m free – 4:00.91 (4:28.61)
  • 800m free – 8:15.25 (9:12.20)
  • 1500m free – 15:38.56 (15:15.09)
