NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has received its second verbal commitment from U.S. Open qualifier Logan Smith of Lebanon, Pa. who will arrive in Lexington at the start of the 2022-23 season.

He will join Tampa, Fla. native Logan Ingerick as a member of the Wildcats’ Class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am honored to make my verbal commitment to University Of Kentucky to further my Academic and athletic career. I would like to thank all my coaches throughout the years, and my family for continuous support. Go Wildcats?⚪️”

Smith, who does his club swimming with York YMCA, is a talented breaststroker and placed 13th in the 100 breast and 19th in the 200 breast at YMCA SCY Nationals in April 2019. In Summer 2019, he finished eighth and 12th, respectively, in the 100m/200m breast at Middle Atlantic LCM Seniors.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 55.93
  • 200 breast – 2:04.38
  • 200 IM – 1:57.02

Currently a junior at Cedar Crest High School, Smith earned bronze in the 100 breast at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships as a sophomore while taking 10th in that event during his freshman season. He also won that event at the PIAA District 03 meet both years as well.

The Wildcats finished seventh overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships under head coach Lars Jorgensen. They also qualified five swimmers for the NCAA Championships – their most in a decade.
