NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has picked up a new verbal commitment for its class of 2027, this time from National qualifier Jada Scott of San Antonio, Texas.

She will join Gaby van Brunt, Laurel Blase and Sydney Blackhurst in Tuscaloosa at the start of the 2023-24 season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to attend the University of Alabama! I believe it will be a perfect fit to challenge me both athletically and academically. I’d like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for supporting me along the way. I’m so thankful to the coaches at BAMA for giving me this opportunity to pursue my love of swimming. I can’t wait to be apart of this amazing team!!!! ROLL TIDE!!! 🔴⚪️🐘”

A talented sprinter, Scott does her club swimming with Alamo Area Aquatic Association and had six top-5 finishes, including a pair of silvers in the 50/100 free, at College Station Sectionals back in March. Last winter, she placed fourth in the 100 free at Juniors West and 18th in the 100 fly.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.66

  • 100 breast – 1:02.53
  • 100 fly – 53.70

Currently a junior at Johnson High School, Scott is a six-time individual Texas 6A State Championship finalist. She won the 100 free and was the runner-up in the 200 IM this past season while taking second in both of those events during her sophomore season.
