Jessica Long Wins ESPY Award
LOS ANGELES, California, July 12. LAST night, Paralympian Jessica Long won the ESPY for Best Female Athlete with a Disability. Long beat out Chelsea McClammer, Tatyana McFadden, Alana Nichols and Melissa Stockwell for the award, presented by ESPN.
The ESPY awards, partially voted on by fans, go out to the best and brightest in sports throughout the world. Long's incredible year, which featured a handful of world records at the U.S. Paralympic Trials last month, helped her to picking up the prestigious award.
The two-time Swimming World Disabled Female Swimmer of the Year has definitely made a mark in the sport, including being a Sullivan Award winner.
Meanwhile, California's Caitlin Leverenz, the other swimming-related nominee, fell to Baylor's basketball player Brittney Griner for the Best Female College Athlete award.
