NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has kept in-state standout Jackson Millard of Lexington, Ky. close to home for the fall of 2022 after the Junior National qualifier pledged his verbal commitment to the Cardinals.

This is the Cardinals’ second public verbal commitment for the Class of 2026, as Millard will join fellow Bluegrass native Charlie Crush.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am very proud to announce my verbal commitment to continue my careers on an academic and athletic level at the University of Louisville! I would like to thank everyone who has helped me throughout this process. I’m very excited to be a part of the cardinal family!! Go Cards ?⚫️”

A versatile swimmer who specializes in IM, Millard does his club swimming with Kentucky Aquatics and earned six best times at the Barbourville 18&U Winter Championships back in December. In December 2020, he won both the 200 IM and 400 IM at the Music City Invite and finaled in the latter event at Juniors East in 2019.

Millard also had a strong showing at the Kentucky LCM 13&O Championships in July 2019, where he collected three gold medals and swam away with a best time in every event he competed in.

Currently a junior at Henry Clay High School, Millard placed third in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 back as a sophomore at the Kentucky State Championships.

His best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:50.35
  • 400 IM – 3:53.74

  • 200 free – 1:39.97

Millard will add valuable, and much-needed, IM depth on Louisville’s roster when he arrives on campus at the start of the 2022-23 season. He would’ve been their third-fastest swimmer in both IM last season, and he would’ve placed in the C-final of the 400 IM at the 2021 ACC Championships.

History was made this past season for the Cardinals as the program won their first-ever ACC title, snapping NC State’s six-year streak by two points. Louisville also won the first NCAA relay title in program history in the 200 medley relay, and Nick Albiero became the fifth individual NCAA champion for UofL.

Albiero was recently named ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Year and head coach Arthur Albiero was named ACC Men’s Coach of the Year.

The Cardinals are bringing in a large and talented class at the start of the 2021-22 season that includes Gustavo SaldoMurilo SartoriTommy BriedRyan HoganEli Shoyat, Lance GodardWylie KruseJohn BosslerOwen Taylor and Luke Shourds.
