Gregorio Paltrinieri Bests the Competition in Prelims of the 1500 Free at the 2015 FINA World Championships

Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri claimed the top seed for finals in the men’s 1500-meter free posting a time of 14:51.04 to separate himself from the competition. Paltrinieri currently holds the top time for 2015 with a 14:43.87 from the Italian Championships earlier this year.
Connor Jaeger turned in a 14:53.34 for the second-place seed in heat five. Jaeger succeeded in lowering his 2015 best of 14:56.43 from the Santa Clara stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.
Yang Sun of China, the current world record holder, clocked a time of 14:55.11 to secure the third-place seed. Despite not being close to his world record of 14:31.02, Sun did succeed in lowering his 2015 best of 15:00.73 from the Chinese Championships.
Great Britain’s Stephen Milne posted a 14:55.17 for the fourth-place seed. Milne improved upon his time of 14:58.25 from the British Championships.
Egypt’s Akram Ahmed takes the fifth seed with a time of 14:55.42, while Canada’s Ryan Cochrane settled for sixth and a time of 14:55.96.
USA’s Michael McBroom will return as the seventh-place seed with a time of 14:57.07, and the Ukraine’s Mykhailo Romanchuk rounds out the top eight returners with a 14:57.82.
