Grant Hackett to Cover Olympic Games for Qatar’s beIN Sports

Grant Hackett will be reporting for beIN Sports during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The Qatar based network will be using Hackett for previews and reviews of the competition.
Hackett told media, “After swimming at three Games and doing commentary in London, I was worried I wouldn’t be involved but this opportunity came up and I thought ‘great’.”
At the Australian Olympic Trials in April Hackett came up short of a fourth Olympic bid after finishing 11th in the 200 freestyle. He had the possibility of being selected as a mentor for the Australian team that is hoping to bounce back from a disappointing performance in London. He also was expected to commentate for the Seven Network.
But then, on his flight home from the Trials, the 36 year old had an on flight altercation. As a result of the incident, Hackett lost both of his possible roles at the Rio Games.
Hackett reports being pleased to have been given another opportunity and to remain involved. He said, “We were laughing about it just the other day. Grant Hacket, live from Qatar…I never thought I’d have a lead-in like that. Its funny where life takes you.”
