The second night of action from the 2017 Speedo Junior Nationals featured eight finals as the Foster brothers from the Mason Manta Rays were again the talk of the session. Carson Foster won the 200 back while his brother Jake Foster won the 400 IM later in the session. The two teamed up with Gordon Wheeler and Adam Chaney to win the 400 free relay to close out the second night of the 2017 Speedo Junior Nationals in East Meadow, New York.

Lucie Nordmann started the night off with a win in the 200 back. She tried to double up in the 100 free but she was beat by UCLA sophomore-to-be Kenisha Liu. USC commit Alexei Sancov won the 100 free to be the only swimmer under 50 seconds in the final.

Lindsay Looney also won the 400 IM after the original winner, Olivia Carter, was disqualified.

Women’s 400 IM

In a big turn of events, Lindsay Looney of Metroplex won a tight 400 IM final thanks to a stellar last 100. Looney was about fifth place at the 300 turn and swam a 1:02.76 on the last 100. Looney touched at 4:47.42 to out-touch Kristen Romano (4:47.47) of Long Island and Katie Glavinovich of Aquazot (4:47.60). Looney did not originally touch first as Enfinity’s Olivia Carter was going for her second win of the meet after she won the 200 fly last night, but she was disqualified, so Looney moved up to be the champion in the race.

Michigan Lakeshore’s Kathryn Ackerman (4:49.46), Asphalt Green’s Isabel Gormley (4:51.64), Sandpipers’ Erica Sullivan (4:51.88) and Sandpipers’ Grace Siebmann (4:56.37) also swam in the championship final.
