Florida 1A State Champion Sarah Lankford Announces 2022 Verbal Commitment to Texas A&M

NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Sarah Lankford of Saint Petersburg, Fla.

She will join Blakely Schuricht and Hadley Beeson as a member of the Aggies’ Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University. I would like to thank my friends and teammates who have motivated me along the way, my coaches who have pushed me to be my best, and my family who have loved and supported me endlessly. I wouldn’t be here without any of them. I’m so excited for my future at A&M.”

A talented freestyler, Lankford does her club swimming with Saint Petersburg Aquatics and most recently post a trio of top-18 finishes at the ISCA International Senior Cup last month. At the Florida Senior Championships in March, she earned four best times and collected bronze in the 1000 free.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.51
  • 100 free – 53.32
  • 200 free – 1:49.21
  • 500 free – 4:55.36
  • 1000 free – 10:09.09

Currently a junior at Shorecrest Prep Academy, Lankford is a six-time Florida 1A State Championship finalist. She collected gold in the 200 free and bronze in the 500 free in 2021 while taking sixth and seventh, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Lankford will add valuable freestyle depth to the Aggies’ roster starting in the fall of 2022. Under head coach Steve Bultman, Texas A&M finished sixth overall in the team standings at the 2021 SEC Championships.

The Aggies are bringing in a strong cohort in the fall of 2021 that includes Kaitlyn OwensMartina FuentesJoelle ReddinMeredith BrownShannon BagnalBrooke Fegley and Sarah Holt.
