Shannon Bagnal and Sarah Holt Pledge Verbals to Texas A&M for 2021-22 Season

NEW COMMITS: Austin, Texas native Shannon Bagnal and Sarah Holt of Shreveport, La. have verbally committed to Texas A&M University for the 2021-22 season and beyond.

Both swimmers will arrive in College Station as members of the Aggies’ class of 2025. Texas A&M finished sixth at the 2020 SEC Championships.

SHANNON BAGNAL

Primarily a backstroker, Bagnal swims year-round with Nitro Swimming and owns a pair of U.S. Open standards. She most recently competed at College Station Sectionals where she finished 14th in the 200m back after earning a best time at Juniors West in December. Last summer, she finaled at Austin Sectionals and raced two events at Junior Nationals.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Texas A&M University. I want to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for supporting me along this journey. I am beyond excited to be apart of such an amazing team! Gig ‘em”

A current junior at Vandegrift High School, Bagnal competed at the UIL Texas 6A State Championships during her freshman season where she finished eighth in the 100 back.  She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twicce in her career.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.60
  • 100 back – 55.60
  • 200 back – 1:59.67

SARAH HOLT

A talented butterflyer, Holt does her club swimming with Red River Aquatic Club and has achieved two Junior National cuts. She recently earned two gold medals at Louisiana Seniors and had five top-10 finishes at the LMSC Pro-Am Classic over the winter. This past summer, she earned 100% best times at Austin Sectionals before going on to finished top-3 in all her events at Louisiana LCM Seniors.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Texas A&M University. I’m very thankful for all the coaches and teammates that helped me along the way!! #gigem”

Also competing for Calgary Baptist School, Holt is a six-time Louisiana D3/D4 State Championships gold medalist. She has secured gold medals each year in the 100 fly, 200 IM, and 200 free.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.47
  • 200 fly – 2:01.28
  • 200 IM – 2:06.02
