Federica Pellegrini’s Anchor Leads Italy to Top Seed in 800 Free Relay at 2015 FINA World Championships

Federica Pellegrini led Italy to the top seed in the women’s 800-meter free relay at the 2015 FINA World Championships.
Pellegrini posted a 1:56.60 anchor as Alice Mizzau (1:58.78), Erica Musso (1:58.05), Chiara Masini Luccetti (1:59.08) and Pellegrini posted a 7:52.51 for the top seed heading into finals.
USA’s Leah Smith (1:57.52), Cierra Runge (1:58.65), Chelsea Chenault (1:58.04) and Shannon Vreeland (1:58.40) qualified second in 7:52.61.
Australia’s Bronte Barratt (1:57.67), Jessica Ashwood (1:58.98), Leah Neale (1:57.69) and Emma McKeon (1:58.32) snared third for the Aussies in 7:52.66.
Sarah Sjostrom blasted the anchor leg for Sweden with a 1:55.69. Louise Hansson (1:58.45), Michelle Coleman (1:58.18), Stina Gardell (2:01.25) and Sjostrom grabbed fourth in 7:53.57.
China (7:54.31), Japan (7:54.58), Great Britain (7:54.99) and France (7:55.08) also made finals, while Russia continued its tough morning of qualifying by missing finals with a ninth-place 7:55.19.
