Bulldogs Keep Georgia 7A 200 Free Champion Cooper Cook In State for 2022-23

NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has successfully kept in-state standout Cooper Cook of Roswell, Ga. local for his college career after her verbally committed to the Bulldogs for 2022.

He will join Charlie Stout, Sam Kohm and Matt Sates as a member of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

A talented backstroker and freestyler, Cook does his club swimming with Dynamo Swim Club and most recently earned bronze in the 100 free at Georgia Seniors last month and took sixth in the 200 free at the Southern Premier Invitational in 2020.

In August 2019, he raced to 17th in the 200m back at Greensboro Futures.

His best times include:

50 back – 23.56
100 back – 49.94
200 back – 1:48.75
50 free – 20.72
100 free – 45.21
200 free – 1:37.56
200 IM – 1:52.08

Currently a junior at Milton High School, Cook is a six-time individual Georgia 7A State Championship finalist. He grabbed gold in the 200 free and bronze in the 100 back in 2021 while taking third and fourth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Georgia finished second at the 2021 SEC Championships.
