North Texas Nadadores’ Audrey McMurry will be staying in the state of Texas for college next year. The Keller High School senior has given her verbal commitment to Texas A&M.
McMurry said,
“On my trip the team was amazing and really welcoming they made me feel at home right away, I also strongly believe in the training and the coaching at A&M!”
Her top times are:
- 200 Free 1:49.26
- 500 Free 4:49.12
- 1000 Free 10:06.11
- 1650 Free 16:42.05
- 200 IM 2:02.65
- 400 IM 4:20.50
At Junior Nationals this summer she swam the 100-800 freestyle events in addition to the 200 IM. Her highest finish was 30th in the 200 (2:05.92) and 400 (4:23.45) freestyles. Earlier in the summer she was a 100, 200 and 400 freestyle and 200 butterfly A finalist at Speedo Sectionals Austin.
McMurry also completed a full slate of events at Junior Nationals (West) in December. At that meet, she swam the 100, 200, 5000, 1000, and 1650 freestyle in addition to the 200 and 400 IMs.
While the 1000, one of her stronger events, is not a Division I conference event, McMurry will still have a chance to score for the Aggies at SECs. Last year she would have finished 24th in the mile. In the 500 freestyle she would have been two seconds shy of the B final.
Also in the Aggie Class of 2021 are Kara Eisenmann, Taylor Pike and Haley Yell.
