Auburn Adds Two-Time Georgia 1-3A State Champion Avery Bargeron to Class of 2025

NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has added a new verbal commitment to their growing class of 2025 from butterflyer Avery Bargeron of Atlanta, Ga.

She will join Lexie MulvihillLucy O’Neill, Jenna SmithAbby McCullohEllie Waldrep and Rebekah Hamilton on campus at the start of the 2021-22 season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Auburn University. I would like to thank my coaches, family, and friends for their constant support and encouragement. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!???”

Bargeron swims year-round with Dynamo Swim Club and most recently finished second in the 200 fly and fifth in the 100 fly at the Southern Premier Invitational. She earned two best times at Juniors East in December and raced to sixth place in the 200m fly at Georgia LCM Seniors last summer before going on to finish 18th in both fly events at Greensboro Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 53.98
  • 200 fly – 1:59.97
  • 100 back – 55.24
  • 200 IM – 2:07.46
  • 400 IM – 4:29.59

Also competing for The Lovett School, Bargeron is a six-time Georgia 1-3A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 fly and grabbed bronze in the 200 free as a junior while placing second and fifth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season. She also won the 100 fly and took fifth in the 100 back as a freshman.

Under head coach Gary Taylor, Auburn finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships.
